Colby Covington doesn't see big numbers coming from the UFC 315 title fight between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena. Muhammad (24-3 MMA, 15-3 UFC) will defend his welterweight championship against Della Maddalena (17-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) on May 10 at Montreal's Bell Centre in the UFC 315 pay-per-view main event.

In a recent interview on Tim Welch's show, Covington criticized both fighters' potential to attract pay-per-view viewers, suggesting their main event matchup won't excite fight fans. "I see that bout really boring the fans," Covington said. "I feel bad for the fans because that's what they get for a title fight. That's just piss poor, two losers in the sport that don't draw flies."

Covington (17-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) himself is currently looking to rebound from consecutive defeats to Leon Edwards and Joaquin Buckley and has been removed from immediate title contention. While he remains a target for a number of fighters—including Themba Gorimbo, Michael Chiesa, and Michael Page—the former interim UFC welterweight champ says he's only interested in major, legacy-building fights.

"Anybody with a big name is who I want next," Covington explained. "Big fights, former champions, and high-level opponents—that's my focus. I'm not here to fight someone just starting out or trying to build their reputation. I've already been there. I've done that."

Covington emphasized that anytime he steps into the Octagon, fans recognize the stakes. "It doesn't matter what my ranking is," he said confidently. "I'm the biggest draw and the biggest star in the welterweight division, so anytime I fight, it's a championship-level event."

The UFC 315 main event matchup—with Muhammad defending his title against unbeaten-in-UFC welterweight Jack Della Maddalena—will be broadcast via ESPN and ESPN+ pay-per-view. Fight fans will tune in to see if Covington's predictions about the lack of excitement come true or if Muhammad and Della Maddalena deliver a memorable UFC title showdown.
